Make your backyard pest free
The journey to restore our beautiful natural environment can start in your own backyard.
1. Join Pest Free Kaipātiki
Complete our registration form to be kept informed.
2. Identify & Record your backyard Pest Plants
Find your pest plant using the pest plant guide
Otherwise try using the iNaturalis App
Once you have them identified, register them on the EcoTrack App. You can
read our PFK EcoTrack user guide here to get started.
3. Visit the ToolShed
Visit the Tool Shed every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month to borrow a:
-
rat trap or bait station
-
backyard weed bags
-
garden tools, and
-
get great advice.
The Tool Shed is located under the Senior Citizens Hall, 251 Hinemoa Street, Birkenhead (down the driveway on the opposite side of the road to the library).
4. Set your rat trap
Set your rat trap in the quarterly predator pulse every February, April, August and November.
